Cooper-Hewitt: Still More Pathetic Wednesday, September 14, 2005
Some time back you covered the most recent thrilling round of the National Design Awards at Cooper-Hewitt. Things up there have arguably gotten still more pathetic: presumably due to financial constraints (i.e., they are too inept to raise real money), the museum has delayed the third National Design Triennial of architecture and design to at least the fall of 2006 from this winter. What will they be showing instead? A selection of 19th-century American art (Winslow Homer, etc.) from the collection and a selection of old cutlery, also from the collection. Maybe they should give themselves a break and call it the National Design Quadrennial. Oh, how we weep for our days. · National Design Awards: BFD [The Gutter] All set here?
