Danny Dies Again at Ground Zero
Friday, December 16, 2005

totilaWEB.gifThough Daniel Libeskind never had actual power at Ground Zero at any point after Pataki tapped him in 2003, he did project enough virtual power to have some hand in the redevelopment process—enough, anyway, to lose it all on or about December 19th of that year. Then commenced the period of imagined power, a sad charade, really, but one for which this site identified a merciful terminus last summer. The events of the past few days have, we believe, brought us to yet another new death for Danny. The mini-macher was nowhere to be seen and was not even mentioned at yesterday's FosterFest. And a day after brilliantly mocking him (hear, hear!) as a closet venerator of Totila the Ostrogoth, the Times' David Dunlap didn't even see the need to get Danny's reax to the news of his new collaborator. And for good reason: we are well into the period of eternal powerlessness.
