frontpageimage.gifThis just in from the Department of Precrime, news that tonight's showdown at the Center for Architecture is slated to be a "dialogue" between "dj" DJ Spooky and "architect" Lebbeus Woods (It's a drawing! It's a city! It's...experimental architecture!) The program? "Resonating Frequencies with Lebbeus Woods and DJ Spooky - an exploration of the symbiotic relationship between architecture and music." The point? Unsure. And, unfortunately, all our in-house correspondents will be tied up at a Dewars tasting, our intern's got a bad case of the clap flu, and, frankly, this event sounds fuck-off boring. Which means that just as much as the Department of Precrime needs its crimes, we'll be needing your reports.

Wow, I don't think you be any more architect snobbish in that post if you tried. Maybe you guys at the Gutter are feeling a little narrow-minded today, but in case you forgot, its not a bad thing to be interdisciplinary in your approach to architecture.

Also, Cooper Union did a similar thing, pairing architects with musicians, with the discussion led by Christopher Janney, a few years ago. Maybe this is just my young/naive/immature perspective, but I think its pretty cool

I mean, i'd be more smug about Dj Spooky. That guy's washed up. Woods would benefit from someone like Apparat or Autechre.

Why not throw Rem in there with Kanye?

Luckily for architects, there are "questionable" events, thoughts, forums to participate in, scoff at, be inspired by, etc.

Passions abounding.

Not so in graphic design. We're force to listen to someone talk about the same fucking "Bring Da Noise" poster everytime there's a lecture or conference.

And lot's of great jargon like "cool" and "stylized" get dropped. People swapping actionscript tricks.

That's why THIS computer graphics specialist is forced to read The Gutter and dream of being a snobby architect - entirely to cool to be inspired by something as drab as the exploration of the symbiotic relationship between architecture and music.

If architecture is frozen music, the POS in Louisville is the popsicle of some Eurotrash Synth Jockey. Un-pimp your buildings.
