Fame: So Painful for Those Denied its Embrace Tuesday, May 16, 2006
So many of you idolize us. Sad but true. So we thought we'd share a little bit of our daily routine. For your edification, most days, we awake. Much like you do, in a bed. Then we stretch, luxuriating in the perfection of our physique and—as it slowly boots up, tangled from the triumphs of the night—our mind, before bounding to our command console to google "Brad." This day, we've found nothing new, which we know makes you sad, too; Namibia may not be the best place in the world from which to make news. But we did find, in our brief travels—heavy with the responsibility to further the discourse (for that is what we do, you know; it's our density)—this amazing measure of who is famous and who is not. "Wright" is a snap; "Pei" they usually get right; "Gehry" they're learning. But, as if the total cultural eclipse that befell him after the Getty opened wasn't enough, it seems our colleagues in the non-MSM press are having a hard time with "Meier." Though we rather like "Steven Hull." "Yes, Brad is familiar with Gehry," says Matt Petersen, president of Global Green USA, a national environmental organization promoting green design in New Orleans, "but he's also familiar with a lot of less well known masters like Steven Hull or Richard Meyer. He's become a real student of architecture." Let's see...We got Brad, Frank, Richard, Steven. Not bad for a throwaway post. Did we forget anyone? · Hey Architects! Brad Pitt Needs Your Help!
